Travel Wish List: Part 1, Bora Bora

With the Coronavirus crisis hitting the world hard at the moment, there are lots of travel restrictions in place. It is very upsetting for everyone in the tourism and hospitality industry. Anyone who loves to travel will be finding this incredibly disruptive and depressing.

I have already had to cancel one trip and I expect I will have to cancel others that I have planned for the coming months. Now that lots of people are stuck working from home or in self-isolation, the Internet is a great way to keep yourself occupied.

Bora Bora
The Four Seasons hotel on Bora Bora is one of the best places to stay

To counter the gloom of being stuck inside and unable to explore the world, I have been reflecting on some of the places that I would like to go and visit. To cheer myself up, I have created a Travel Wish List, which is a series on the Patricia Bech Travel Notes that I intend to add to over the coming weeks.

My Travel Wish List includes places that I would like to visit but it also provides some inspiration for other people and covers areas that I love and that I feel should be on someone else’s wish list!

For Part 1 of my Travel Wish List I am looking at some of the reasons to visit Bora Bora.

Enjoy unspoilt beauty

Bora Bora does not have large crowds of tourists. It is therefore relatively unspoilt and not ruined by towering hotel buildings or packed with bars. Rather, this is a place where you can completely indulge in the raw beauty of nature. Stunning beaches and beautiful marine life make it a paradise on earth. You can make the most of spectacular sunsets and magical scenery during a visit.

Beautiful sea

Bora Bora is known for having some of the clearest water in the world. The lagoon is literally turquoise in colour and you only have to browse through Instagram to see how dazzling the sea really is. This means there is excellent snorkelling and it is one of the best places in the world to head under water for either snorkelling or diving.

A luxurious break

It is a long way to fly to Bora Bora. So, I think if you are planning a trip here, then you may as well go all out and stay somewhere amazing. It is home to some of the most incredible properties in the world. These certainly won’t be cheap, but this should be a once in a lifetime trip and worth a treat. The Four Seasons is noted as one of the very best places to stay during a visit.
