Golf courses are starting to open again in some parts of the UK. That said, it is not quite the same yet as it was before lockdown. However, when I heard that you can play golf and tennis again as part of a social distancing activity, it gave me an idea to write a short roundup of some of the best golf hotels to visit for the Patricia Bech Travel Notes.
I decided to venture further afield and look at Ireland because there are some very famous golf destinations there. Here are three of the best.
The K Club
The K Club is a luxury hotel and golf resort that is only about 30 minutes from Dublin. It was Ireland’s First AA 5 Red Star Hotel. It is considered a popular luxury destination with tourists and locals. The golf courses hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup, 2016 Irish Open & 13 European Opens. The estate spans over 500 acres and has beautiful countryside to admire as well as many luxury facilities, such as a spa, pool and great bars.
This course will host the Ryder Cup in 2026. It is in the West of Ireland and the hotel is another incredibly luxurious place to stay. The course has been designed within the glorious estate of one of Europe’s most spectacular manor house hotels. It is widely tipped to become one the best championship courses in the world.
Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort
Another lovely resort in Ireland is Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort. This is located in Wicklow, which is considered to be the garden of Ireland. The course is set on 360 acres of grounds and has beautiful views.
