With England still in the middle of lockdown, travelling this Christmas looks unlikely for a lot of people. This time last year I was starting to feel very festive and I was looking forward to all the Christmas Markets. I am a Christmas nut and love the celebrations!
This year, it is a very different story though and sadly things will not be the same. Instead, I am hoping that we will be able to enjoy some sort of winter fun, but also aware that we need to stay as safe as possible during the COVID-19 period.
So today, I thought I would transport myself to a Christmas dream destination! I mean, if you can’t travel safely at the moment then at least you can still dream about it. I have always wanted to go on a winter break to Finland. I have heard amazing things about it.
A lot of the time people like to go on snow holidays for skiing. At Christmas time there is much more that you can enjoy on a snow holiday though than just skiing and being near slopes isn’t an essential.
The reason that I love the idea of going to Finland is that you can visit Lapland. In Lapland there are so many opportunities to enjoy festive experiences. For example, you can do Husky sledding and reindeer sleigh rides, which would be lovely family activities to do and I can imagine that little children (me included!!) would get very excited at the prospect of doing things like this. You can also do snow activities and meet the big man himself.
There are quite a few different hotels that you can stay in if you choose to visit Lapland. All of them embrace the festive season and have their own special take on the celebrations. While all trips have been suspended to Santa’s Lapland this year, packages are already available for those looking ahead to winter 2021. You can find out more by visiting www.santaslapland.com
