As the summer comes to an end in the UK, many people like to try and escape for some late summer sunshine. As COVID-19 travel restrictions ease, there are a few places that you may like to consider visiting for prolonged warm weather. Even if you are not brave enough to travel yet, it is still nice to dream!
In recent years I have been to most of the places that I suggest below and here are a few ideas for those embracing the world of travel at the moment.
While it can get pretty windy at this time of year in the South of France, you will still be able to enjoy some beautiful days. It is worth trying to go as far south as possible, to somewhere like Nice. Alternatively, there is plenty to see at this time of year in the wine regions as harvest time has arrived and the weather is generally pleasant. Paris is also always a hit at any time of the year!
The Canary Islands
Tenerife and Lanzarote are just two of the Canary Islands that are worth a visit. You will definitely get some hot weather at this time of year as it remains considerably warmer when you travel this far south. This is a great place to go as an alternative to a long-haul winter sun destination but the flight is still quite chunky (roughly four hours).
With a shorter flight time, but just as nice weather, the Spanish holiday destinations remain a good option. Alicante is quite well-protected from the winds at this time of year. Equally if you chose to visit somewhere like Madrid, the temperatures will be hot well into October and November. The islands are also nice and the sea is still a good temperature.
Again, try to go as far south as possible if you are sun-seeking! Rather than opting for Milan, Rome will likely give you more consistently warm weather at this time of year. Rome is popular throughout the year but autumn is good for a less intense visit.
