I write for a few different websites and one of my recent articles was a short summary of places to visit during spring. I wrote this for Lifestyle Loves and included some of my favourite destinations for a trip as the brighter weather arrives.
Whenever I write a short feature, I always feel an urge to expand it as it gets me thinking about all the fantastic places that you can visit and write about around the world. So I thought I would compose a bigger feature for the Patricia Bech Travel Notes about some of the best places to visit during spring.
A spring time visit to Paris
With Paris Fashion Week being well documented on the likes of Instagram and the various magazine websites, I have been longing to visit the city of romance. If you want to enjoy an urban break during the spring months, there is no better place to visit than Paris in my opinion. The advantage of visiting at this time of year is that there will be fewer crowds than usual, but the city looks beautiful on a warm day and there are lots of pretty flowers to enjoy. Paris is lovely at any time of year, but as you can start to sit outside and enjoy the street cafes, it takes on a whole new perspective. There are so many famous sites to see, that you will definitely have an educational trip. Every time I see the Eiffel Tower it doesn’t fail to impress and I also love Montmartre.
Enjoying the last of the snow in Chamonix
I included skiing in Europe in my feature for Lifetsyle Loves. There are so many lovely ski resorts in Europe that stay open late and well towards the end of the spring months. If you want to fit in a long weekend then Chamonix is one of the best places to go as it is just an hour or so from Geneva airport, so you don’t waste too much time on a transfer. The later you go skiing, the more mindful you should be about the height of the resort. Somewhere with a glacier, like Val d’Isere, would be good to guaranteed winter sports but the transfer here is longer. I also wrote a feature about places to ski in Austria, if you fancy somewhere outside of France.
A blast of early summer sunshine
Of course sunseeking at this time of year is a priority for many. There are so many places to visit where you are guaranteed warm weather at the start of the year. Islands like Barbados will still be very hot and you are also ahead of the stormy season. So if you want to travel long haul, then somewhere like this could be well worth it. That said, as we move closer towards the summer months in Europe, places closer to home start to warm up. Morocco is a great destination for mixing sunshine with culture for example. However, even southern parts of Spain are very nice in spring because they are not yet too hot. In fact, I wrote about a tour of some of the places in Andalucía for A Luxury Travel Blog if you need some ideas on this front.
